"C was already implemented on several quite different machines and OSs, Unix was already being distributed on the PDP-11, but the portability of the whole system was new. -- Dennis Ritchie"
MY RESEARCH
I received my PhD in statistics from Oxford University in 2003 with Prof. Brian Ripley. There I studied the idea of "computing near the data", whereby computation, instead of data, is moved around a network for distributed and parallel modeling of data.

I am very interested in distributed statistical computing, particularly in its application to solving real world problems, such as contact center reporting. I also very much enjoy investigating new ways of presenting data.
PROJECTS
Currently I am working on network topology discovery using end-to-end data. The main challenge is one of relevance: how can we make sure the topology our algorithm discovers is in fact useful to network engineers?

Another project I am taking part in has to do with building a sophisticated contact center monitoring/reporting tool with embedded R.
